Overview

Agro-forestry-pastoral and fisheries systems are core drivers of livelihoods in West Africa, yet youth participation remains far below potential.

Key regional priorities
  • Youth involvement in agro-forestry-pastoral and fisheries value chains is still significantly low despite strong sector potential.
  • Underemployment, limited access to productive opportunities, and outward migration pressures weaken rural resilience.
  • Inclusive growth requires stronger practical pathways for decent work, enterprise participation, and equitable access to value chains.
